Otley & The Chevin

Bramhope Circular
Best views on this walk if you do it in a clockwise direction.
Start the walk by leaving the centre of Bramhope following farm tracks and field paths, crossing Bramhope beck and Otley Old Road and the A658 and arriving in the village of East Carlton.
From there continue into York Gate Plantation and the Roman Road which linked Tadcaster with Ilkley and Otley. After walking a loop you can continue to Surprise View and a great vista of Wharfedale and Otley. A watercolour by Turner, “View of Farnley Hall” was painted from here. After surprise view the walk takes you to Caley Deer Park where you may be rewarded with a sighting. As you come out of the wood there are great views to the north over Wharfdale to Almscliff Cragg and you may see a red kite circling above as you return to Bramhope
