Holmfirth & The Holme Valley - Last Of The Summer Wine Country

Brockholes Circular
You can start this walk at the station if arriving by train or in the village centre if arriving by bus or car. It can be walked in either direction but the directions below are for a clockwise stroll.

After walking uphill beneath the railway bridge, take the footpath leaving the lane on the right immediately after the bridge. Initially the walk follows the line of the railway, then passing beneath the line it begins to climb up to the village of Thurstonland. The walk does involve some climbing in this section, but after that there are stretches, notably beneath Haw Cliff where you can stride out below the crest of the ridge and enjoy the panoramic views over the Holme Valley.

From here the path drops into the valley bottom and crosses the A616 and then follows the river before crossing over and leading you back to Brockholes. You can extend the walk by staying beside the river as far as the road and then turning right and right again . . .
